Pleasant Home ready for Panthers

Playing in the Class 1A sub regional and being able to host are the two biggest tools that Pleasant Home is grateful for tonight when the Eagles play Georgiana to decide whether they’ll have a berth at the regional tournament next week.

“Georgiana’s a mighty good basketball team,” Eagles coach Jerry Davis said. “They’re very athletic, and have great quickness.”

Davis described the match up between the two teams through a football analogy.

“It’s going to be kind of like a wish bone team playing a pass empty team,” he said. “If we play well, and we can get through their pressure, then I think we got a pretty good chance.”

Leading up to tonight’s game, the Eagles (20-7) have had solid practices and the players aren’t ready to hang up their jerseys, Davis said.

Davis said he knows that anything can happen because a lot of great teams have already lost this season, and the teams that are left are “very capable of making it to Mobile or Birmingham themselves.”

“We can’t be in a better situation that we are,” he said. “We’re going to play at our house (tonight). We’re going to play as hard as they play.”

Tip off tonight at PHS is at 7 p.m.
