‘Best friend’ pleads guilty to stealing credit card

An Andalusia woman has pleaded guilty to stealing her best friend’s credit card and using it to make illegal purchases.

Jennifer Marie Messick, who was represented by Benton Persons, was convicted of fraudulent use of a credit/debit card and given a 31-month probation sentence. Messick’s case was one of 22 cases disposed in December in Covington County Circuit Court after plea agreements were reached. Others include:

• Bobby Charles Anderson pled guilty to adult criminal sex offender failure to register for which he received to six years in prison. Attorney: Larry Grissett.

• Joshua Randall Blackmon pled guilty to theft of property II for which he received 15 years in prison: Attorney: Meredith Peters.

• Aaron William Bolden pled guilty to possession of a forged instrument II for which he received a 12-year sentence. Attorney: Lloyd Carr.

• Rabbit Alexzander Butler pled guilty to adult criminal sex offender failure to complete a travel permit, for which he received a 10-year sentence. Attorney: Trey Burgess.

• Eboni Lakesia Byrd pled guilty to possession of a forged instrument II and was given 31 months of probation. Attorney: Gypsy Smith.

• Betty Jean Caine pled guilty to fraudulent use of a credit/debit card and was given a 31-month probation sentence. Attorney: Amy Jones.

• Jason Michael Davis pled guilty to escape III and was given a five-year prison sentence. Attorney: Riley Powell.

• Brucetravis Dewayne Frazier pled guilty to theft of property I for which he was given a 10-year prison sentence; however, a probation hearing is to be set. Attorney: Deborah Smith.

• Sheila Diane Jeter pled guilty to fraudulent use of a credit/debit card for which she received 46 months probation. Attorney: Diana Mock.

• Jennifer Rose Mason pled guilty to unlawful possession of a controlled substance and was given a 10-year prison sentence. Attorney: Ronnie Penn.

• Rayburn Lee Mauldin pled guilty to possession of a forged instrument III and was given a one-year prison sentence. Attorney: Anne Christensen.

• Chester Glenn McKinley pled guilty to manufacturing of a controlled substance II for which he was sentenced to 12 years in prison. Attorney: David Baker.

• Larry Freeman Nicholson pled guilty to burglary III and was sentenced to 15 years in prison; however, a probation hearing is set for Jan. 10. Attorney: Grady Lanier.

• Candace Marie Sasser pled guilty to fraudulent use of a credit/debit card and was given a 31-month probation sentence. Attorney: Gypsy Smith.

•Johnathon Seaney pled guilty to manufacturing of a controlled substance for which he received 10 years probation. Attorney: Manish Patel.

• Zachary Durell Smith pled guilty to burglary III and was sentenced to eight years in prison. Attorney: Corey Bryan.

• James Allen Stallworth pled guilty to possession of marijuana I for which he received three years probation. Attorney: Sonny James.

• Presley Nicole Stewart pled guilty to unlawful possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to eight years probation. Attorney: Meredith Peters.

• Diavalo Stoudemire pled guilty to distribution of a controlled substance for which he received 15 years in prison. Attorney: Sonny James.

• Allen Beaver Yancey pled guilty to possession of marijuana II and was sentenced to two years probation. Attorney: Rod Sylvester.

Of the 22 cases, 50 percent resulted in prison time; 41 percent, probation; and the remaining 9 percent have applied for probation. Additionally, 36 percent were drug-related; 55 percent were crimes against person or property; and 9 percent were sex offender related.
