The Andalusia High School varsity baseball and varsity softball teams traveled to Evergreen on Tuesday and took over with dominating wins against their Hillcrest High School counterparts.

The AHS baseball team broke free from any chain or leash against the Jags with a 21-1 win in area play.

The Bulldogs proved their bite is just as bad as their bark after two scoreless innings with six runs in the top of the third inning.

The Bulldogs added four more runs in the top of the fourth and held a 10-1 lead after four innings of play.

Andalusia put the game away in the fifth inning with 11 runs for a 21-1 win in five innings via the mercy rule.

Cole Sightler had a big game at the plate going 3-for-4 in the lopsided win with four runs scored and eight RBIs. He had a home run in the game.

Andrew Harry also had a homer in the win and finished the game 2-for-2 at the plate with one run scored and one RBI.

Rob Foreman was 2-for-2 at the dish against the Jags with one run scored and two RBIs.

Michael Dutton also had two RBIs in the win and scored two runs.

Several Andalusia players scored two runs in the game, including Michael Miller, Daniel Wall, Chase Glisson and Tyler Wilson. Jacob McCullough, Wesley Liles, Jake Hollingsworth, Neal Patterson and Andrew Bryan each scored one run in the game.

Miller and Liles had one RBI each in the win.

Patterson was the winning pitching going four innings. He allowed one run on three hits and one walk. He struck out three. Harry pitched one inning of relief work and struck out two.

The Bulldogs return to action on Friday when Northview is slated to come to Andalusia for a 4:30 p.m. game. The Bulldogs are scheduled to travel to Thomasville on Saturday.

The Andalusia High School varsity softball team also hit the 20-run mark against their counterparts from Hillcrest on Tuesday with a 20-0 win in three innings.

Elizabeth Smith and Katie Tyler both had grand slam home runs in the win.

Ashley Johnson also had a home run in the lopsided victory. She ended the game with three runs scored.

Heather Self was 2-for-2 against the Lady Jaguars with one RBI.

Katie Howell was the starting pitcher and went the distance. Howell pitched a no-hitter and struck out six in the win.

The Lady Bulldogs are scheduled to return to the diamond today when they host the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers for a 4 p.m. game.

The Lady Bulldogs are currently 4-5 on the season.
