Andalusia rebounded Wednesday in the Ozark Holiday Shootout, defeating Brantley 50-38.

The win came after a tough loss to Luverne that put the Bulldogs in the tournament loser’s bracket Tuesday.

Coach Richard Robertson said the team started sluggish in both games.

“We were able to overcome it today,” he said. “But we couldn’t come back (Tuesday). We’re practicing again tomorrow, and I’m going to tell them. You’ve got to be sharp from the beginning.”

Brantley took a 13-8 lead in the first quarter, but the Bulldogs rallied in the second with 15 points to move ahead to 23-18 at the half. By the end of the third, the score was 37-23.

Jacard Townsend led the scoring for Andalusia with 18 points, followed by Jayden Ellision who added 14. Samuel Byrd, Niguel Jones and Joseph Flowers added 5 each, and Ashton Evans added 1.

Chester Person was the leading scorer for Brantley with 14, followed by Terrence Bogan, who had 9.
