Charles Thomas “Charlie” “Pops” Morris passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at his residence.

Memorial services for Mr. Morris will be held on Saturday, Feb. 8, 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church with Father Eric Mancil officiating. Interment will follow at the Memorial Garden of St. Mary’s.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Brown Morris; his sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey Elton Morris (Kayla), and John Gilbert Morris (Cathy); his grandchildren, Clayton Thomas Morris (Elizabeth), Endsley Catherine Morris, and Trey Bouchard; his great-grandson, Ryker Charles Patten-Morris.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Elton Morris and Fannie Mae Morris.

Charles Thomas “Charlie” Morris was born July 4, 1944, in Gordo, Alabama, and raised in Fairfield, Alabama. He later attended and was graduated from McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In 1966, he earned his B.A. in History from the University of Alabama and his Juris Doctor in 1973, also from the University of Alabama. He served as a Captain in the Army Artillery (1st Battalion 83rd FA) in Vietnam. He later was an attorney and joined The Prestwood-Morris Law Firm in Andalusia, as well as having a solo practice in Opp. He specialized in real estate, probate, and general practice with Johnson and Morris in Andalusia and later served as Covington County District Judge for 13 years. In 2023, he was recognized for 50 years of service by the Alabama State Bar.

Charlie was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Andalusia for 30 plus years, where he was an active volunteer in numerous ministries including Altar Guild, Rice and Beans, Community Thanksgiving, and Christmas meals, as well as a choir member.

He was an avid runner, tennis player, golfer, and a devoted Alabama football fan. He loved spending time with Sam, the dachshund, and could be seen giving him rides around Andalusia several times a day.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church of Andalusia, 1307 E. Three Notch St, Andalusia, AL 36420 in memory of Mr. Charles Thomas Morris.
