One of the suspects in the 2020 murder of Micah Coon who had fled the area was arrested last week in Ohio.
An arrest warrant was issued for Frank McQueen, 45, of Evergreen in 2021. U.S. Marshals took him into custody in the parking lot of a hospital in Delaware, Ohio on Friday. He is being held in the Delaware County Jail pending extradition to Covington County.
McQueen is one of five people charged in the Nov. 16 beating and shooting death of Coon who was found inside a George Street home in Andalusia.
According to reports, while in Ohio McQueen made contact with family and friends in Alabama and that information led the task force to locate and arrest him.
Brittany Head, 26, was convicted of felony murder last summer and sentenced to life in prison.
Dontavious Powell, 26, pleaded guilty in 2023 to felony murder and was sentenced to nine years in prison.
Tyquise Jamal Jenkins, 26, and Courtney Lee Porter, 33, are set to go to trial this week.
Following his 2021 arrest, McQueen was set to go to trail Monday. It is unknown how long he had been in Ohio.
According to officials, the incident began with an altercation outside of an Andalusia package store involving Jenkins and Head. After that, the married couple gathered Powell, Porter and McQueen to go to Coon’s home to retaliate.
Coon’s fiancé and their three children hid in a bedroom while Coon called 911 and through the murder.
At trial, the 911 operator who took the call testified that she heard what she believed was a gunshot and Coon screaming in pain.
Law enforcement responding to the scene found Coon suffered from gunshot wounds to the stomach and head as well as signs that he had been beaten.
