Mary “Claudette” Ward Colvin passed away on Friday, Dec. 27, 2024 in Montgomery, Alabama.
Claudette was preceded in death by her husband, Geral D. Colvin; parents, Parker D. Ward and Lessie F. Ward; and brother, James Guyzell Ward.
She is survived by her son, Daniel L. Colvin (Mona) of Marianna, Florida; her daughter, Corlis Colvin Floyd (Jimmy) of Montgomery; grandchildren, Joshua “Adam” Floyd and Blaire Colvin Camacho (Robert); great grandsons, Andy and Leon Camacho; sisters, Wanda Eloise Davis (Johnie) and Barbara Nell Ray; sisters-in-law, Nell Ward and Samantha Colvin Sage; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A native of Covington County, Claudette was born on April 29, 1935 and graduated as class Salutatorian from Straughn High School in 1953. She married Geral D. Colvin on August 1, 1953. Claudette retired from the ASCS office in Andalusia and later worked at Regions Bank for 10 years before moving to Micanopy, Florida in 2012, where she studied and received her certification as a Master Gardener. In late December 2016, she moved to Montgomery.
Claudette was a longtime member of Andalusia Bible Church and for the past seven years attended First Assembly of God Church in Montgomery. She was a devoted Christian who served the Lord for many years. She was a woman of great faith and prayer and taught Sunday School and home Bible studies in the various communities where she lived throughout her lifetime.
Claudette was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister and a true and trusted friend to many others. She enjoyed life, encouraged everyone and finished well!
A family graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at the Good News Baptist Chapel Cemetery in Dozier. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Andalusia Bible Church, 101 Moore Road, Andalusia, AL 36420 or to the Good News Baptist Chapel Cemetery Fund, Good News Chapel Road, Dozier, AL 36028.
