Virginia Allyn Brown went to be with her Lord and Savior on Dec. 19, 2024 in Birmingham, Alabama where she was surrounded by family.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, James Raymond Brown and Allyn Hamner Brown.

She is survived by: her sisters, Janie Brown and Julia Ashdown (Scott); her nephews, Jimmy Snow (Ashley) and Jake Taylor Ashdown (Elizabeth); and her nieces, Elizabeth Bryant (Antwan) and Emily Ashdown. She is also survived by her grand nieces, Ava Grace, Maleah, Olivia and Harper Allyn Bryant; and a grand nephew, James Snow. She is survived by many cousins and friends whom she loved dearly who will miss her greatly.

Virginia lived in Lenoir, North Carolina, where she was retired from teaching kindergarten through fourth grades. She was loved by her students, parents, and colleagues. She was active in her community and Waterlife Church, especially enjoying being an auditorium greeter and participating in small group Bible studies. She was a Group Leader for eight years in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF). Sharing her faith and encouraging others to come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior were her passions. She will be missed by all who were privileged to know her.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Snow, Antwan Bryant, Jack Moorhead, Carson Heck, Clark Taylor, and Rowdy Barton. Honorary pallbearers will be Zack Studstill, Lee Anderson, and Jake Taylor Ashduwn.

A Celebration of her Life will be held Saturday, Jan. 4, 2 p.m., at Foreman Funeral Home in Andalusia. A reception will follow graveside after the funeral with the location to be announced.

A Celebration of Life will also be held at Waterlife Church in Lenoir on Saturday, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m. A reception will follow at the church.
