ReAct Theatre and Arts will present Sean of the South and the Grand Ole Optimists on Sat., Jan 18, 2025, in the Dixon Center at LBW Community College in Andalusia.
The performance will be the first sponsored by ReAct that does not involve local performers.
“When we started ReAct Theatre and Arts, we wanted to promote both visual and performing arts,” President Roger Powell said. “This year, we decided to bring Sean Dietrich, whose daily commentary on life in the South is quite popular.”
Dietrich’s work appears on a daily blog called “Sean of the South.” He also is a musician who has made several appearances at the Grand Ol’ Opry.
“Sean will appear with his band, and the performance will include comedy and front-porch style music,” Powell said. “We had planned to put the tickets on sale in December and promote them as stocking stuffers. But the demand was so high, we went ahead and made them available, and have sold about 35 percent of them.”
Dietrich has authored more than 4,000 columns and 18 books. His work has appeared in Newsweek, Southern Living, Reader’s Digest, and Garden and Gun.
The Sean of the South event in Andalusia will begin at 7 p.m. on Sat., Jan. 18. Tickets, which are $25 each, are available on eventbrite.com.
ReAct recentely sold out three performances of “Tales of the Tomb,” and will present “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten” in April.
