Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Mrs. Martha Cottle Henby, 79, of Andalusia, passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, at her residence.

Martha Cottle Henby

Martha was highly supportive of Don during their 64-year commitment to each other (59 years of marriage), truly an example of the joining of two and becoming one. She was the mainstay of the family while serving as a military wife around the world. Her transformation from a local sweet country girl to a worldly classy “first lady” of several military organizations was highly inspirational. She supported Don throughout his military career and was active in volunteer work for several charitable organizations. She became an accomplished golfer and tennis player, an exceptional cook, and garden expert. However, the dedication to her family and the raising/molding of her sons brought her the greatest pleasure. After retirement and returning to Andalusia, she delighted in assisting Alan Cotton in estate sales. She was a lifetime member of Coldwater Congregational Church.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 20, 11 a.m., from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Keith Parker and Bro. Eugene Meadows officiating the service. The interment will follow in Coldwater Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Foreman Funeral Home.

Martha is survived by her husband, Don Henby; two sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Kathleen Henby, Jr. of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and Mike and Angie Henby of Wetumpka; seven grandchildren, Kaitlin Henby, Brianna Henby, Zachary (Emma) Henby, Abigail (Ryan) Hykin, Sarah Henby, Brendan Henby and Ella Henby; and one sister, Susan Gantt.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Gantt, Craig Cottle, Ryan Cottle, Keith Rountree, Bob Hammett, and George Page.
