Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Marilyn McInnish Williams passed away peacefully on Nov. 12 at her home, surrounded by family. She was born on April 7, 1947, to Horace and Betty Sue McInnish in Dothan, Alabama.

Marilyn McInnish Williams

They moved to Andalusia in the summer of 1960 when Marilyn was 14 years old. She was taken by the hand of Betty Radcliff Kleiss, and their friendship continued until her death. She had a love of music, and she was best known for her singing and piano playing. She sang at home, in church, and in many productions at LBW. She had three beautiful children, whom she staunchly supported. She was one of the most loving and fiercely protective mothers and was an amazing cook. She is best known for her spaghetti, lasagna, red velvet cake, and peanut butter pie. She would make cakes but save a little condensed milk for Tracie (her youngest daughter) to eat out of the can while watching soap operas as a child. She was married to Dennis Michael Williams on Dec. 31, 1992, and they filled each other with joy, laughter, and genuine friendship for 35 years. They moved to Montgomery, where she became the cultural arts director for the City of Montgomery for many years, but as long as she lived in Montgomery, her heart always remained in Andalusia.

She was preceded in death by her parents Horace and Betty Sue McInnish. She leaves behind her beloved spouse, Dennis Michael Williams; her children Dr. R. Mark Merrill (Beth), her daughter Leigh Ann Merrill, and her baby, Tracie Murrah (Josh); her grandchildren Alexandria Merrill, Chandler Merrill, Anna Madeleine Merrill, Mac Murrah, and Sam Murrah; her great-grandchildren Hudson Broadhead and Walker Merrill; and her brothers Carl McInnish (Sharon) and Bill McInnish (Gail). She has many additional nieces and nephews she loved dearly.

She will best be remembered for her beautiful smile and boisterous laugh.

We love you Mom, Mimi, Marilyn.

Services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Andalusia on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. with visitation at noon.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition or the Alzheimer’s Association.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to her caregivers from Enhabit Hospice of Montgomery: Crystal, Netta, Sharon, Paula, Haley, and any others who have of their time, service, and hearts. From the bottom of OUR hearts, thank you.
