Two-vehicle crash leads to three deaths; investigation underway in Opp

The Opp Police Department and Opp Fire Department each responded to a two-vehicle traffic crash that led to three deaths at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 84 and W. Cummings Avenue on Saturday, Nov. 2, at approximately 6:35 p.m.
The incident involved a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe passenger car and a 1998 Chevrolet C1500 4×4 Truck. The driver of the Santa Fe, Peggy Kooi, 71, and two passengers, Deborah B. Bobo, 66, and Rodney O. Bobo, age 43, all of Opp, were each pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet C1500 4×4, Danny H. Dean, 19, of Andalusia, sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for medical care.
The Opp Police Department is actively investigating the circumstances of the crash to determine the cause. Officials with the OPD extended their deepest condolences to the families and loved ones affected by the tragedy.
