AIK enjoys solid performances at Grandview Open Martial Arts Tournament

Fifteen students represented Andalusia Isshinryu Karate in the Grandview Open Martial Arts Tournament held at the Grandview YMCA in Millbrook, Alabama, on Saturday, Oct. 19.
The tournament was hosted by Grandview Isshinryu and tournament director April Bickhaus. She is a former member of Andalusia Isshinryu and runs an outstanding program in Millbrook.
Teams from 23 martial arts schools competed in one of the largest tournaments AIK has attended this year. AIK team members had a great day including 13 first place finishes.
AIK placed in the following divisions:
- Braydon Walker – youth black belt: first place in weapons, first place in kata, and first place in fighting
- Phillip Martin – men’s black belt: first place in weapons and first place in kata
- Lawrence Sargent – yellow belt: first place in weapons, first place in kata, and first place in fighting
- Craig Lucca – white belt: first place in fighting
- Brianna Walker – brown belt: second place in weapons, first place in kata, and first place in fighting
- Drew Marcotte – yellow belt: fourth place in weapons, first place in kata, and first place in fighting
- Johnathan Rudd – youth black belt: third place in weapons, second place in kata, and second place in fighting
- Bridgette Homm – white belt: second place in fighting
- Henley Sargent – orange belt: second place in kata and third place in fighting
- Eli Rudd – yellow belt: fourth place in weapons, third place in kata, and second place in fighting
- Lacey Rudd – blue belt: second place in kata and third place in fighting
- Harrington Ferut – orange belt: fourth place in kata and second place in fighting
- Harless Huckabaa – yellow belt: third place in fighting
- Michael Bowman – orange belt: third place in fighting
