Courtney Bowers, T&D Construction and Engineering Manager at PowerSouth, was named the Andalusia Office Professionals Association’s (AOPA) Boss of the Year during the annual Boss’s Luncheon, held on Thursday, Oct. 17, at PowerSouth.

Courtney was nominated by her team, affectionately known as “The Dream Team,” for her exceptional leadership, calm demeanor, and commitment to fostering a supportive and empowering workplace. Her nomination essay, submitted by team members Camaro King, Lauren Guilford, Anna Clark, Amy Colvin, Tracey Gantt, and Kaitlyn Anderson, highlighted her strategic problem-solving skills and unwavering encouragement.

The essay reads in part:
“Courtney leads our team with grace and resilience. Her calm demeanor and strategic problem-solving skills guide us daily… Her approachability and willingness to listen make her an outstanding leader… Courtney consistently acknowledges our hard work and celebrates achievements big and small, which keeps morale high throughout our department.”

Courtney’s leadership has left a lasting impact, not only on her team but also across PowerSouth, by consistently empowering her colleagues to pursue growth and celebrate their successes.

Courtney expressed her gratitude upon receiving the award.

“I am incredibly humbled by this nomination and selection as Boss of the Year. More than anything, I am proud to lead such a wonderful team that truly cares for one another and consistently demonstrates a servant’s heart. This recognition is a reflection of the incredible people I work alongside every day. Thank you for this honor; it truly belongs to all of us,” Bowers said.

“Courtney’s dedication to her team and her ability to inspire those around her make her a well-deserved recipient of this year’s AOPA Boss of the Year Award,” AOPA representatives said.

She is married to her husband of 12 years, Garret Bowers, and they have one daughter, Claire.
