The Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the schedule for this year’s Christmas parade and the community’s annual holiday favorite Christmas in Candyland.

The parade will be held on Thursday, Dec. 5, beginning at 6 p.m. with a “Timeless Traditions: A Vintage Christmas Parade” theme.

“We are excited about the holiday season getting closer and look forward to celebrating with everyone in December. The chamber will begin the festivities with our annual Christmas parade and go back in time with our theme this year. Candyland will also be back for an eleventh year, and we have some wonderful events planned,” AACC Executive Director Mellisa King said.

Parade entry forms may be accessed through the chamber’s website. Entry fees are $25 for chamber members and $50 for non-chamber members. There is no fee for school-affiliated entries. The deadline to submit an application is Friday, Nov. 22.

“Everything must be decorated. We would like to have an authentic Christmas parade rather than an advertisement parade,” King said.

The eleventh year of Christmas in Candyland begins on Friday, Dec. 6, and runs for four December weekends through Sunday, Dec. 29. Hours of operation are Fridays from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 1 to 9 p.m., and Sundays from 1 to 8 p.m. The schedule will also feature two locals’ nights on Thursday, Dec. 12, and Thursday, Dec. 19, from 5 to 9 p.m. each night.

“Sponsorships are now available for Candyland. We will begin moving this year’s cottages to the Square and Springdale after Veterans Day. The slide is currently being put up. We are also seeking talent for the stage,” King said.

The chamber will announce dates and times for specific Candyland events at a later date.
