In a significant step towards improving public health and safety, T&C Pharmacy in Opp, Alabama, has installed a Prescription Drug Disposal Box at their location. Unveiled on Oct. 9, 2024, this new service is made possible through a partnership with South Central Alabama Mental Health and West Central Alabama Area Health Education Center (AHEC).
The Prescription Drug Disposal Box provides residents with a secure and environmentally safe way to dispose of unwanted, expired, or unused medications. This initiative helps to reduce the risk of prescription drug misuse and prevents harmful substances from contaminating local water supplies.
“We are thrilled to bring this important service to our community,” T&C Pharmacy Owner Matthew Simmons said. “Properly disposing of unused medications helps protect our loved ones from accidental misuse and our environment from potential contamination. It’s a simple but critical step that everyone can take to keep our community safe.”
South Central Alabama Mental Health and West Central Alabama AHEC joined forces with T&C Pharmacy in an effort to address growing concerns about prescription drug abuse and the environmental impacts of improper medication disposal. The Disposal Box is available to the public during regular pharmacy hours and accepts a wide range of medications.
T&C Pharmacy invites the community to take advantage of this valuable resource and encourages everyone to prioritize safe disposal of their medications.
