The LBW Community College Foundation hosted its annual Camellia City Classic Golf Tournament on Wednesday, Oct. 16, and raised over $50,000 in support of student activities and scholarships for LBW Community College.
Held at the beautiful Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Cambrian Ridge in Greenville, the event saw 25 teams compete in a friendly but competitive atmosphere with over 50 businesses and organizations represented on the course.
Participants had the opportunity to engage with LBW’s Golf Team by “buying a drive” to improve their scores, with proceeds benefiting the team. Highlights of the day also included a Hole-in-One giveaway and a $5,000 putting contest, sponsored by Greenville Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, which added to the excitement on the course.
In individual competitions, William Martin and Chris Williams claimed the Long Drive titles, while Daniel Branum and David Hancock were recognized as Closest to the Pin winners.
Team CCB Community Bank and Team David Scott both tied for the lowest net score, but Team David Scott, also represented by David Rees, Jr., Patrick Albrecht, and Matt Hall, emerged victorious after a scorecard shootout. Team First Citizens Bank of Greenville, consisting of Josh McLendon, Cody Norman, Keith Taylor, and William Martin, took home the prize for the lowest gross score, shooting an impressive 54 for the day.
The Camellia City Classic is a key fundraiser for the LBW Foundation, with proceeds supporting dual enrollment programs, student activities, scholarships, and other vital initiatives across LBW’s campuses in Andalusia, Greenville, and Opp. This year’s tournament continues to highlight the strong community and corporate support for LBW’s mission to foster educational and workforce development.
