The Covington County United Fund has launched its 2024-2025 campaign with a mission to raise $120,000 in funds enabling member agencies to render local human care services.

This year’s campaign, which kicked off on Friday, Oct. 4, will run through Friday, Dec. 27.

“As you might imagine, the needs that we hope to meet throughout our community are significant,” Chairman Mitch Thorn said. “Truthfully, we have fallen short of the goal since the onset of the COVID pandemic, but we are confident that our community wants to see our participating agencies fully funded so they can provide for the needs across our county. Your participation is vital to the success of the campaign.”

A kick-off breakfast for the 2024-2025 campaign drive was held at the South Alabama Regional Airport on Friday, Oct. 4. SARA executive director Jed Blackwell and his staff prepared breakfast for all board members, agency representatives, and guests. Agency representatives received checks and were able to share detailed information on the use of funds and their involvement impacts Covington County.

The Covington County United Fund is strictly a local charity established to enrich the lives of Covington County residents through philanthropy and volunteerism.

“Thousands of Covington Countians are touched by the outreach of your United Fund members. The funding they receive through United Fund allows them to focus on delivery of service, rather than having to be in a perpetual fundraising mode. This method of raising community support through a united effort was put in place several years ago by business leaders of our county, and it has served us very well,” Thorn said.

The CCUF board of directors includes Mitch Thorn as president, Greg White as secretary/treasurer, William Alverson, Billy Bergfeld, April Cox, Jason Jessie, Denise Patterson, Katie Silva, Wanda Woods, and Michelle Wunsh.
