Red Level (2-3, 1-2 1A Region 2) will look to bounce back from a tough loss in a non-region game and resume region play against Elba (4-2, 2-1) on Friday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m.

This will be the ninth meeting between the two teams and the seventh time in the modern era. Elba leads the all-time series 7-1 over Red Level.

“Elba is going to be a fast and strong opponent. If we can contain Alvin Henderson and tackle better, hopefully, that will give us a shot. We must make sure where we are on defense because he is one of, if not the best, running back in the state of Alabama. Offensively, we have to sustain drives without turning the ball over, keep the ball out of their hands as long as we can, and ultimately score,” Head Coach Kenny Skipper said.

Last week, Red Level fell to LaFayette in its homecoming game, 56-8. Elba was also at home and downed Goshen, 48-34.

“When you turn the ball over like we did, it was 24-0 and we only had three offensive plays. We put a drive together and almost scored, but turned it over again. I will take the blame for the lack of focus last week. We were not ready to play that game, and ultimately, that falls on me. It was poor play, poor coaching, and a lot of poor things all around. We don’t have a second to breathe and have Elba this week and Georgiana next week,” Skipper said.

Red Level suffered a 56-14 home setback to Elba last season.
