Lady Bobcats finish runner-up in inaugural home volleyball tournament

Opp hosted its very first in-season volleyball tournament in honor of Heather Bryan and finished as the tournament runner-up with a 4-1 record on Saturday, Sept. 28.
The Lady Bobcats improved their record on the season to 18-8 with three wins in pool play: 2-1 (25-15, 23-25, 15-9) over Brantley, 2-0 (25-6, 25-11) over Charles Henderson, and 2-0 (25-6, 25-12) over Zion Chapel. Opp swept Luverne 2-0 (25-4, 25-10) and fell to T.R. Miller 2-0 (25-16, 25-22) in the championship.
For the tournament, Madie Wilson had 10 aces, 73 assists, and seven digs. Carreline Spears had four aces, 47 kills, and 33 digs. Braleigh Nall had 16 kills and a team-leading three blocks. Ada Blackstock had three aces, 14 kills, and digs. CB Johnson also finished with 14 kills. Chloe Bentley had seven aces and seven kills. Crislyn Birge led the team with 49 digs and two aces. Shelby Greenacre had 26 digs and two aces, while LaTasia Coleman added 12 digs.
The Lady Bobcats close out their area schedule on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Straughn with first serve scheduled for approximately 6 p.m.
