Mr. Jerry Lee Howell, 70, of Red Level departed from this life on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, at a local hospital.

Jerry Lee Howell

Mr. Howell was born and raised in Andalusia. He attended Andalusia High School where he graduated in the Class of 1972. He soon after moved to Lakeland, Florida, where he worked for the Florida Fresh Water, Fish, and Game Commission before moving back to Andalusia. He then worked for many years at Neste Resins in River Falls before starting his own business, Howell’s Nursery and Landscaping. Jerry loved growing plants, planting flowers, and digging in the dirt. His “green thumb” and enthusiastic love to share his knowledge of plants was admired by many.

In retirement, his love for helping people continued as he was often found encouraging residents of The Haven House Mission or enjoying the beauty of Laguna Beach. The beach was his happy place.

Graveside services for Mr. Howell will be Wednesday, Sept. 25, 11 a.m., at Macedonia Cemetery with Dr. Josh Wilson officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing.

A visitation was held Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at Foreman Funeral Home.

Mr. Howell is survived by his wife, Kim Howell of Red Level; a daughter; Katie Howell Poole (Jake) of Andalusia; three stepchildren, Jonathan Pebworth (Cherish), Lauren Lawson, and Beth Covin (Kevin), all of Andalusia; a sister, Debbie Williams (Lee) of Gantt; two grandchildren, Jed Howell Poole and Hayes Poole; four stepchildren, Samantha Lawson, Kaleb Covin, Kolter Covin, and Kyler Covin; his nieces, Lynsey Williams, Lesley Thorn (Mitch), and Leanne Williams; and his nephews, Mickey (Jennifer) and Ben (Jessica) Howell. All were loved very much by Jerry. He also had many close friends who meant so much to him. He considered them a part of his family, and they all held a special place in his heart.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Benton Howell and Pearl Bryan, stepfather Auburn Bryan, brother Mickey Howell, and sister-in-law Gayle Howell.

Pallbearers serving the family will be David Brawner, Tony Lee, Bobby Duncan, Austin Wheeler, Jay Kelley, and Jamie Johnson.

Honorary Pallbearers are Jim Lord, Bill Lord, Von Butler, Lee Cagle, and Leebo Williams.
