A new waste disposal company will be servicing rural residents of Covington County after Meridian Waste expanded its operation into Alabama and Mississippi through the acquisition of ADSI Holdings, also known as Arrow Disposal.
Meridian Waste President Gentry Shows told members of the Covington County Commission that nothing will change with residents’ garbage pickup, except for the level of service, which he said would improve.
“Meridian Waste is committed to providing the citizens of Covington County with excellent service moving forward,” according to a press release.
Residents should not expect any changes to their garbage collection days or billing.
“We will be keeping everything the same,” Shows said, also confirming that the headquarters will remain in Opp, along with the same workforce.
Future bills will be issued under the Meridian Waste name with instructions on how to set up an online account. The customer service number remains 866-440-3983.
There is a solid waste pickup date for customers scheduled for Oct. 19, 9 a.m. to noon, at Fleeta School. Customers must bring a proof of service to participate in the pick-up.
“We appreciate the opportunity to meet with representatives of Arrow Disposal/Meridian Waste. As the company transitions to a new name, we are pleased to continue working with the same team that has provided reliable waste services for rural Covington County since 2020. Although issues have arisen from time to time, this team has been very responsive in addressing concerns,” said Commission Chairman Greg White.
Commissioner Michael Smith added, “We would like to thank ADSI for their service over the years and we are looking forward to working with Meridian Waste in the future. After meeting with their representatives, I am confident in the high standards of service Meridian offers.”
