Covington County’s annual property tax notices will be mailed the last week of September. Digital notices will also be emailed to those who have an email address on file the first week of October. Contact the Revenue Commissioner’s office if you do not receive your property tax notices in October.

Property tax payments should be made from Oct. 1, 2024, through Dec. 31, 2024, to avoid penalties and additional fees. Payments may be mailed, paid online at www.covcounty.com, or brought to the courthouse office. A 2.35 percent convenience fee will be applied to all credit card payments.

Property owners should be sure to include the address and confirm the contact information is correct when making payment.

Applications will be mailed the first week of October to those who are receiving special homestead exemptions. Those eligible for the special homestead exemption include anyone over 65 or who is permanently and totally disabled. This exemption must be claimed every year during the months of October through December. Failure to complete and return the special homestead exemption application by Dec. 31 will result in the loss of the special exemption for the next tax year.

Any person who has purchased a home or acquired a home through a will or any other vesting document during a tax year (Oct. 1 through Sept. 30) may be eligible to apply for homesteads or other exemptions. The month of occupancy will determine which tax year you will receive the homestead exemption. Current use is available for parcels of 6 acres or more where homes are present or 5 acres or more on vacant acreage, if eligible.
