FedEx driver Wayne White has retired after 29 years of serving three different communities.

He covered routes throughout the Wiregrass in Andalusia, Dothan, and Eufaula.

“Working for 29 years with FedEx allowed me to financially secure my family. The company is now in the process of converting all drivers into contractors. It was one of the main reasons I chose to retire. I enjoyed serving people with the highest standards of service,” White said.

His final day of work was on Friday, August 23. A retirement party was held for him on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce.

White said he has made many friends and built relationships with those individuals on his routes in the area.

“There has been a lot that has changed since I first started working with FedEx. Trust and caring for people first come to my mind when I think of everything that has evolved with the company over the years. I will miss all my customers I served the most. I’d like to extend a special thank you to Debbie Godwin, Tammy Holt, Mellisa King, and Marilyn Williams for their efforts in coordinating my retirement party with the Andalusia Chamber,” he said.

White plans to spend his retirement as a full-time pastor at Bethesda Temple Church in Dothan. He also hopes to substitute with Dothan City Schools and drive a school bus for the system when he obtains his commercial’s driver license.

“I thank Jesus Christ for everything, especially my life, health, and strength. He has been a huge part of what I have done over the years. I have also received unbelievable encouragement from my family and friends throughout my time as a FedEx driver,” White said.

Wayne is married to his wife, Dorothy, of eight years, and has three children: Olivia White, Kristal Flowers, and Terrence Bryant.
