Pleasant Home (1-3, 0-2 1A Region 2) will welcome Red Level (1-2, 0-2) for a cross-county rivalry showdown with both teams in search of a region win on Friday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m.

This matchup will be the 17th meeting between the two teams since they first met on the gridiron in 2000. The Tigers lead the all-time series 10-6 against the Eagles.

“Red Level is going to be quick. They always play tough and with passion. We will have to play disciplined and with great technique,” PHS Head Coach Kevin Bond said.

“When watching Pleasant Home on film, Kevin is doing a good job getting them ready to play. They are really young, but one thing about this game every year is that both teams are going to play hard. Our mindset going into this week is that it is a very big region week if we want to continue having a shot at the playoffs. We want to treat it like business as usual and have our guys ready to play at the end of the week,” RLS Head Coach Kenny Skipper said.

Last week, Pleasant Home dropped a 48-0 decision at Florala. Red Level played its first home game of the year and fell to Brantley, 48-14.

“We have to keep building a mentality of competing for four quarters no matter who our opponent is. We had some guys show some great effort and have to get better on the offensive line and give our backs lanes to run in. Defensively, we were in great positions at times and just have to make the plays,” Bond said.

“We did a lot of good things against Brantley. I told the guys going into the week we needed to work on us. We want to have a mindset of playing at a high level all the time no matter who the opponent is. We played a really good and physical football game that was tied at 14-14 at the end of the first quarter and 28-14 at halftime. We played a good first half and an okay second half. It was hard to hem the athletes that Brantley has, but we played hard and physical. I thought we got better and haven’t had a game with Brantley like that in a long time,” Skipper said.

The Tigers defeated the Eagles on the road in 2023, 25-0.
