County Commission adopts fiscal year 2025 road projects

The Covington County Commission approved the fiscal year 2025 Rebuild Alabama Transportation Plan for Covington County with project costs coming in just under $1.9 million. The plan was adopted during a regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, August 27.

County Engineer Lynn Ralls discussed eight projects on the county’s fiscal year 2025 transportation plan that cover approximately 5.843 miles. Six projects involve road improvements, while the other two projects consist of bridge improvements.

Following are the projects included in the plan.

  • County Road 47 — Indian Creek Road with 0.019 miles of bridge replacement at a total cost of $463,465
  • County Road 82 — Gantt to Red Level Road with 0.107 miles of bridge maintenance at a total cost of $250,000
  • Signalization to replace 0.005 miles of pole-mounted caution light signals with post-mounted caution lights at the intersection of County Roads 77 and 43; County Roads 77 and 70; County Road 70 and Harmony Church Road at a total cost of $75,000
  • Union Grove Road to grade, drain, base, and pave 0.929 miles from Structure No. 165 to Fleeta Road at a total cost of $96,000
  • County Road 17 — Hogfoot Road to widen, level, triple surface treatment, and traffic stripe 2.135 miles from County Road 31 (Rockhole Bridge Road) to the existing end of pavement at a total cost of $481,000
  • County Road 99 — Jackson Town Road to widen, level, triple surface treatment, and traffic stripe 1.645 miles from County Road 32 to County Road 47 (Indian Creek Road) at a total cost of $384,550
  • Rosin Ridge to grade, drain, base, and pave 0.648 miles from County Road 21 (Ard Creek Road) to County Road 7 (Loango Road) at a total cost of $70,000
  • Prestwood Bridge Road to grade, drain, base, and pave 0.481 miles from Structure No. 196 to Glisson Road at a total cost of $70,000
