The Opp and Covington County Area Chamber of Commerce has been awarded a $9,100 Tourism Grant from the State of Alabama. This grant will be used to help fund the highly anticipated Opp Fest 2024, an annual event that draws visitors from across the region to celebrate the vibrant culture, history, and community spirit of Opp.

Opp Fest has become a cornerstone event for the area, offering entertainment, food, crafts, and activities that showcase the best of local talent and businesses. The funding from the Tourism Grant will enable the City of Opp to expand the event, enhance visitor experiences, and promote Opp as a prime destination for tourists looking for unique and memorable festivals.

Joni Lolley, Executive Director of the Opp & Covington County Area Chamber of Commerce, expressed her gratitude for the support.

“We are thrilled to receive this grant, which will allow the city to elevate Opp Fest and attract even more visitors to our community,” Lolley said. “This is a significant opportunity for Opp to shine and share our Southern hospitality with guests from near and far. We are incredibly grateful to Sen. Josh Carnley and Rep. Matthew Hammet for their vital role in helping us secure these funds .”

The State of Alabama’s Tourism Grant Program is designed to assist communities in promoting tourism by funding events and activities that have the potential to draw visitors and stimulate local economies. With the help of this grant, Opp Fest 2024 will serve as a vital boost for local businesses, providing an economic impact that will benefit the entire community.

Opp Fest 2024 is scheduled to take place on October 26th, and will feature live music, artisan vendors, a variety of food trucks, and family-friendly activities. The Chamber invites all residents and visitors to join in the festivities and experience the charm and warmth of Opp.
