The Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce held its signature golf tournament, The Chamber Classic, on Tuesday, August 27, on the beautiful 18-hole course at the Andalusia Country Club.
There were 37 teams representing a variety of businesses and industries in the Chamber membership. Those participating in the tournament enjoyed a friendly competitive round of golf, a “Ball Drop”, a putting contest, lunch, and several opportunities to win great prizes from area businesses.
“It was a wonderful day, and the weather was perfect. We want to thank our sponsors and participants for making this year’s event a success. Funds raised at this tournament help cover the cost of educational scholarships and opportunities, relocation and recruitment materials, and many community programs and events throughout the year,” AACC Executive Director Mellisa King said.
First place in the Top Flight of the tournament went to CCB, who turned in a low score of 55 and earned them the “Chamber Champions” title. PowerSouth Team 2 shot a 57 and came in second.
In the “Andalusia Elite” Flight, the JReed Agency team came in first place with a low score of 61. Huhtamaki Team 2 followed the JReed Agency team with a second place score of 61. The JReed Agency was declared the winner in a tiebreaker the Chamber established before the beginning of the tournament.
Individual winners in the tournament were Mitch Thorn, closest to the pin, Jacob Free, longest drive, and Mayor Earl Johnson, who took the top prize in the SEC Kubota Ball Drop.
“This fundraiser is vital to our Chamber’s program of work. On behalf of the Board of Directors, we sincerely express our appreciation to all of our members for your generosity and support of our Chamber and also countless other community organizations and programs,” King added.
