The First Methodist Church of Andalusia will kick off the 2024-2025 school year and host its second annual Youth Rally event on Saturday, August 17 in the church’s fellowship hall.

The event, which begins at 11 a.m., is free and open to all students in seventh through twelfth grades. Following games and lunch, students will travel to the Full Tummy Project, Blue Lake Camp, and Meredith’s Miracles for community mission projects.

The theme for the rally is “5G: God, Growth, Greatness, Generosity, Go” with Romans 12:2 serving as the key verse for the event. It reads, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Students will return to FMC for light refreshments followed by praise and worship following their projects. They will hear a message from guest speaker Kimmi Lochner of Bethel Church in Marietta, Georgia. The rally will conclude with fellowship over supper and a visit from Sno Biz.

First Methodist Church Youth Leader Heather Sabey said 55 students attended the 2023 event.

“Last year’s rally was a huge success, and we are hoping even more students join us this year. Our prayer is that our youth see the power of coming together in Jesus’ name to impact our community. They will also have fun with youth from other church bodies,” Sabey said.
