South Central Alabama Mental Health will host a series of vape take back events in August.

These take backs are designed to be judgement-free opportunities for community members and students to drop off any vape devices in their possession.

Upon receiving them, SCAMH properly disposes of the devices so that the materials contained within cannot cause further environmental harm. Vape juice is aerosol, not vapor, and is categorized as hazardous waste.

Following are the take-back dates:

• Wednesday, August 21, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Florala High School (22114 Begonia St., Florala)

• Friday, August 23, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Florala Pharmacy (23355 5th Ave, Florala). This event is both a drug take back and a vape take back. Participants may also drop off any unused or expired prescription medications at this event.

• Friday, August 23, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., at Andalusia High School (701 3rd St, Andalusia.)
