CCBOE approves Florala head football coach, Red Level band director

The Covington County Board of Education approved four additional personnel matters during a special called meeting on Tuesday, July 23.

The board approved the following personnel matters:

Transfer

  • Margaret Suzanne Stockton from pre-K auxiliary teacher at Straughn Elementary School to pre-K auxiliary teacher at Pleasant Home School effective at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year

Employment

  • Kyle Davis as history teacher/head football coach at Florala High School effective at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, pending verification of new or existing background reviews
  • Kellye Rodgers as instructional paraprofessional at Straughn Elementary School effective at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, pending verification of new or existing background reviews
  • Laura Jones as band director at Red Level School effective at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, pending verification of new or existing background reviews

In other business:

  • The board adopted all school handbooks for the 2024-2025 school year.
  • The board adopted changes to its Student Code of Conduct for the 2024-2025 school year. According to Superintendent Shannon Driver, there was “one tweak with a couple of words” to reflect new state legislature laws relating to student discipline. The changes will be effective immediately at the beginning of the school year on Monday, August 12. No additional changes were made to the Student Code of Conduct.

The board set the next meeting for Tuesday, July 30, 7:30 a.m., at the central office. This will be a regularly scheduled meeting that takes the place of the board’s normal first Tuesday meeting due to in-service.
