Louise Pelham (Tillie) O’Neal Hamiter passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at her home at Westminster Village in Spanish Fort, Alabama.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, July 16, 2 p.m., at Magnolia Cemetery in Andalusia. Visitation was held prior to the service at Foreman Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. until time of service. Pallbearers were Steve Sikes, Clay Sikes, Lee Perry, John Thompson, Trey Cosby, and Bob O’Neal.
Louise Pelham (Tillie) O’Neal Hamiter was born on August 4, 1934, in Andalusia. Her parents were Dr. Lester C. O’Neal and Louise Pelham O’Neal.
Mrs. Hamiter attended Andalusia City Schools and graduated in 1952. She then attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery and after two years transferred to the University of Alabama, where she graduated in 1956.
Mrs. Hamiter was a homemaker and an elementary school teacher. She was a lifetime member of The First Methodist Church of Andalusia. The Hamiters moved from Andalusia to Westminster Village in Spanish Fort, Alabama, in July 2018.
Mrs. Hamiter is survived by her husband of 69 years, James William (Bill) Hamiter Jr., a daughter, Melinda (Gary) Bornfleth of Mobile, Alabama, and a son, Lester (Lella) O’Neal Hamiter of Birmingham, Alabama.
