Left to cherish his memory include: his children, Johnathan Holmes of North Dakota, Tasha Kelley (Tony) of Wing, Taras Holmes, and Michael Rex Holmes Jr. of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Micgayle Bass (Nate) of Andalusia; one sister, Gail Mosley; grandchildren, Samantha Townsend, Sarah Holmes, William Franklin, Joseph Franklin, Josiah Bass, Tucker Bass, Sophia Holmes and Krislynn Smith; and four great grandchildren.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Glenda Hattaway Mosley and Rex Murray Holmes and stepfather, L.V. Mosley, and his wife, Marschell Holmes.

Michael served in the U.S. Army-Air Force, and like many during that time, he actually joined before he was of “actual enlistment age.” He held great pride in his time of serving in the military. Throughout his adventurous life, he visited most every state in the United States; one time he made the trip from Alabama to California on his Harley Davidson. He was a skilled brick mason and one of his masonry masterpieces was “The Fountain” that was the centerpiece of the Covington County Mall. He was gifted with a unique perspective on life and a vibrant personality; he made a lasting impact on the people who got to know him, and he loved to fish. He was loved by so many and his legacy will be cherished.
