The Covington County Board of Education announced two possible dates for its teacher institute and approved 10 personnel matters during a special called meeting on Thursday, June 20.

Superintendent Shannon Driver announced all teachers within the system would meet for an institute at the central office on Monday, August 5 or Tuesday, August 6. The first day of school for students is Monday, August 12.

“Our teacher institute day should be finalized next week. This gets us almost done with personnel, but we are not quite ready. We will leave the next meeting date as tentative at this point. We try not to meet during the first week of July, but I will let you know when we can get to those last few personnel items and a couple of other things we need to address. Tentatively, that should be about a week to 10 days,” Driver said.
