Rising Andalusia High School senior Cade Cassady recently completed the 87th annual American Legion Alabama Boys State program from May 26 to June 1 at Troy University.
Cade referred to the program as a great learning experience.
“I have gained a better understanding of the inner workings of city, county, and state government. I really liked our trip to the State Capitol, where there is so much history,” he said.
Students who illustrate leadership, character, scholarship, loyalty and service in their schools are chosen to attend Boys State.
Cade enjoyed meeting other students from across the state of Alabama and made some new friends. He also visited with old friends that now attend other high schools.
“Troy University has a very nice campus. We had fun using the athletic facilities during our daily sports competitions,” Cade added.
American Legion Alabama Boys State is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for U.S. high school students.
Cade is the son of Mike and Candace Cassady.
