Two people are dead after an apparent murder-suicide in Gantt on Sunday.
According to the Covington County Sheriff’s Office, in the early hours of the pre-daylight Sunday morning, CCSO units along with Andalusia and Gantt police departments responded to the area of Stillman Road upon receiving an initial call to the Covington County E-911 regarding the incident.
According to the call, a female, later identified as Cindi Jordan, was in great distress. CCSO officials said Jordan’s ex-husband had broken into her residence intending to take her life. The 911 communication with Jordan was lost soon after the call was made. Units responded with extreme priority and caution, according to Sheriff Blake Turman.
Law enforcement determined that a man — later identified as the ex-husband, Robert Ribarin Sr. — had broken into Jordan’s home and proceeded to murder her. Ribarin soon after committed suicide inside the residence.
An investigation has been conducted by the Gantt Police Department and Chief Ken Harris. CCSO and APD assisted in the response and investigation.
“I have spoken with Chief Harris and we both concur that this was a tragic event and totally uncalled for,” Turman said. “We want to thank all the responders that assisted and please keep our citizens dealing with this loss in your thoughts and prayers.”
