Straughn High School senior Ryan Cobb was selected as the Class 3A Bryant-Jordan Scholar Athlete program recipient.

The program, now in its 37th year, selects regional winners across the state from school nominations for this year’s scholarship distribution.

More than $1 million in scholarships was available this year.

Ryan was recognized at the 37th annual Bryant-Jordan Awards Banquet on Monday, April 15, in Birmingham and received a $3,000 scholarship.

He is the son of Matt and Christy Cobb and plans to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering from Auburn University beginning this fall.
