Margaret Martin Smithwick, age 91, of Andalusia passed away April 30, 2024 at her residence. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 4, 10 a.m., at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. One of Margaret’s nephews, Rev. Gary Martin will officiate. Interment will follow in the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Todd Bass, Scotty Bass, Brent Martin, Chris Martin, Ian Cooper, and Jerry Campbell. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Herb Fain, Billy Joe Martin and Jimmie Riley.
Left to cherish her memory include: daughters, Jackie Fuqua and Janet F. Cooper (Tim), both of Andalusia; step daughter, Portia Jennison (Bill) of Palatka, Florida; step son, Charlie “Chuck” Harris Smithwick III (Janelle) of North Carolina; brother, Billy Joe “Bill” Martin of Andalusia; sister, Irma Nell Riley; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Martin and Nellie Maddox Martin; her husband, Charlie Harris Smithwick Jr.; son, Danny Harold Fuqua; brother, Rev. Ben Martin; and sister, Juanita Fain.
Margaret dearly loved all her family. She was a member of Liberty Home Baptist Church, a wonderful homemaker and skilled in craft making, silk flower arrangements, hand stitched projects, scrapbooking and arranging photo albums. She was greatly loved and will be very missed.
