Andalusia Police assisted by county’s Incident Response Team in investigation that leads to arrest

The Covington County Incident Response team joined members of the Andalusia Police Department at a residence on Snowden Drive Thursday afternoon.
The APD was investigating a case of failure to register as a sex offender and learned the suspect had several weapons.
Christopher Lee Johns, 51, who was convicted of second degree rape in 2021, and who was released in January of 2024, was taken into custody and has been charged with failure to register as a sex offender, sex offender prohibited residence location, and burglary III.
Johns is on hold for probation and parole on violation of parole. No bond was set.
