The Covington Historical Society will meet Thursday evening, March 28, 6 p.m., at the Charles Dixon Room of the Andalusia Public Library.
The Alabama Humanities Alliance in Birmingham will be bringing its Road Scholars program. CHS will host Justin Rudder for a free open-to-the-public presentation on the evolution of Black neighborhoods and communities in and around Andalusia. His presentation focuses on understanding the development of the Black settlements often known as “the bottoms’ or “the quarters” and sharing information and stories from overlooked chapters in local history.
Articles in Rudder’s research have been published in Alabama Heritage, Alabama Review, and the Encyclopedia of Alabama. The public is invited to attend this event made possible by the Alabama Humanities Alliance.
