John William Pettie, better known as JW or Dubbin to some, was born August 25, 1944 and passed away at his home in Andalusia, on Feb. 5, 2024. A memorial service will be held at Antioch Congregational Church on Saturday, March 2, 2 p.m., with Bro. Roger Lee and Bro. Benji Jordan officiating.
Mr. Pettie is preceded in death by his parents, James Wilton Pettie and Carrie Lee Bailey; two sons, David Pettie and George Pettie; and four brothers.
He is survived by his loving companion, Mary Ann Lewis; sons, John (Cindy) Pettie, Darren (Danica) Pettie, Jason (Meleah Peterson) Pettie; a daughter, Dana (Jeff Sandlin) Pettie; nine grandchildren, Jarrod (Stephanie) Pettie, Jordan (Cortney) Pettie, Hunter Pettie, Alex Atchison, Will Pettie, Katelyn Pettie, Catherine Pettie, Caroline Pettie, and Dunja Curcic-Pettie; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Lillian (Lee) Kirkland and Linda Fay Warthen; and a host of nieces and nephews.
JW was a successful tree surgeon and businessman in Andalusia for many years.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Cancer Freeze, PO Box 92, Florala, AL 36442.
