DOWN TO THREE: Andalusia, Florala boys and Straughn girls head to South Regional

Three Covington County teams are still alive in the AHSAA basketball playoffs as the next round sends the teams to the South Regional at Montgomery’s Garrett Coliseum.
Sub-regional game winners compete in one of four regional tournaments according to a pre-drawn bracket. Straughn is the lone girls’ team remaining, while Andalusia and Florala remain as the last two boys’ teams.
Tickets will be sold through GoFan at http://gofan.co. The Alabama High School Athletic Association has set admission for $10.00 per day.
In Class 1A, Florala plays Georgiana on Wednesday, Feb. 14, at 4:30 p.m. The winner gets Southern Choctaw or McIntosh in the regional final on Monday, Feb. 19, at 4:45 p.m.
In Class 3A, Straughn plays New Brockton on Friday, Feb. 16, at 3 p.m. The winner gets Houston Academy or Cottage Hill in the regional final on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 12:30 p.m.
In Class 4A, Andalusia plays Jackson on Monday, Feb. 19, at 1:30 p.m. The winner gets Escambia County or UMS-Wright in the regional final on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 5:45 p.m.
All winners advance to the AHSAA State Finals scheduled for Monday, Feb. 26, through Saturday, March 2, at Legacy Arena in the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center.
