A single-vehicle crash in Covington County on Saturday has claimed the life of a Baker, Florida resident.

Billy R. Fleming, 28, was fatally injured when the 1992 GMC 1500 he was driving on Covington County 4, near Alabama 54, approximately 5 miles east of Florala,  left the roadway and struck a tree, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. The accident occurred at approximately 10:58 p.m.

Fleming, who officials said was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Nothing further is available as State Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
