James (Jimmy) Grissett Jr. of Andalusia has announced his candidacy for District 3 on the Covington County Commission.
Grissett is a lifelong resident of the Stanley Community and is a graduate of Andalusia High School. He is the owner of Grissett’s Excavating Co., LLC located in Andalusia and Milton, Florida. He is also a cattle farmer and owner of Grissett Farms, LLC, also located in Andalusia. Grissett is the trustee of the Stanley School and Judson Cemetery. He also has served on the Andalusia Planning and Zoning Board and the School Advisory Board.
Grissett said he believes in strong business leadership in forming policies, making every level of government more businesslike.
“With my experience of owning and running a construction company and a local cattle farm I feel as if I can contribute that experience for the betterment of the county and the community in District 3,” Grissett said. “Doing what you say you’re going to do and working hard toward the goals we set will make a real difference in how our county is managed. It will be an absolute honor to serve the people of Covington County.”
Grissett is the father of two children, Jama Metcalf and Bo Grissett. He is the son of Gail Grisset and the late James Grissett Sr. He has two siblings, Kenny Grissett of Andalusia and Donna Raines of Andalusia.
