All six county football teams will be in action this week with two teams beginning their region schedule.

Andalusia vs. Dale County
Andalusia (2-0, 0-0 4A Region 2) will look to continue a strong start to the season and open region play against Dale County (1-1, 0-0) on senior night.

Senior recognition was originally scheduled to take place last week but was pushed back due to weather.

This will be the eighth matchup overall between the two teams and fourth time as region opponents. The Bulldogs have a 5-2 lead over the Warriors in the series which first began in the 1980 season.

Andalusia earned a 39-0 home shutout against Anniston last week. Dale County fell to Carroll-Ozark in a high-scoring home contest, 62-30.

The Bulldogs blanked the Warriors on the road last year, 43-0.

Florala vs. Georgiana
Florala (1-0, 1-0 1A Region 2) will go for its second straight region win and begin a three-game home stretch with a visit from Georgiana (1-1, 1-0).

This year’s contest will be the 43rd game between the two teams dating back to 1930. The Panthers hold a 25-17 series lead against the Wildcats.

Both teams began their region slate with lopsided victories last time out. Florala took down Red Level in a road matchup, 48-13. Georgiana routed McKenzie at home, 54-14.

The Panthers snapped a three-game losing streak in the series and edged the Wildcats, 20-14, in 2022.

Opp at Northside Methodist
Opp (0-2, 0-1 3A Region 2) will attempt to get in the win column for the first time this season with a region tilt at Northside Methodist (1-1, 0-0) on Thursday night.

It will be only the second meeting between the two teams since last year. The Bobcats hold a 1-0 series lead over the Knights.

Each team dropped a home matchup last week. Opp fell short to New Brockton, 19-14. Northside Methodist lost to Cottonwood, 52-38.

The Bobcats routed the Knights last season, 40-10.

Pleasant Home vs. Red Level
Pleasant Home (1-0, 0-0 1A Region 2) will return to the field following an open week and host county rival Red Level (0-1, 0-1) in its first region contest of the season.

This year’s game will be the 16th all-time between the two teams since 2000. The Tigers lead the series 9-6 and have claimed three straight victories over the Eagles.

While Pleasant Home was off last week, Red Level began its season with a hard-fought home loss to Florala, 48-13.

The Tigers defended their home field with a 26-6 win against the Eagles in 2022.

Straughn at Daleville
Straughn (1-0, 1-0 3A Region 2) will travel for the second straight week and seek another region win at Daleville (0-2, 0-1).

This year’s battle marks the 11th time the two teams have played since they first met in the 1976 season. The Warhawks lead the series 6-4 but saw their four-game winning streak over the Tigers snapped last year.

Straughn earned its first-ever road win against Pike County last week, 20-19. Daleville ran into a tough Houston Academy squad at home and fell, 55-16.

The Tigers scored a 45-12 home rout of the Warhawks last year.
