The Covington County Emergency Management Agency is following a weather front that could bring isolated thunderstorms and damaging winds to the area Sunday.
The CCEMA said there is a chance for strong to severe thunderstorms across portions of the forecast area Sunday afternoon into Sunday night, mainly in the form of damaging wind gusts. The most likely areas to be affected will be across the interior portions of southwestern and south-central Alabama. In addition to the severe storm threat, a nuisance flash flooding threat may also materialize across portions of southeastern Mississippi into southwestern Alabama where 1 to 3 inches of rain may fall Saturday through Sunday night.
The storm front is expected to bring wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour.
As of Friday, Covington County remained in the “marginal” area of risk, but that could change as the front progresses.
