CCBOE approves Pleasant Home principal, Florala assistant principal at Wednesday meeting

The Covington County Board of Education approved eight additional personnel items including two leadership positions at a special called meeting Wednesday, June 14.

Barry Wood was approved as the next principal at Pleasant Home School effective July 1. Lorna Carnley was approved as the assistant principal at Florala High School effective at the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year. Both hires are pending verification of new or existing background reviews.

During the meeting the board also approved:

Resignation

  • Tricia Livings as bookkeeper at Straughn Middle School effective June 30
  • Delisa Freeney as lunchroom worker at SMS retroactive to the end of the 2022-2023 school year
  • Amanda Day Griggs as custodian at Red Level School effective June 30

Employment

  • Deborah Ann Inabinett as lunchroom worker at W.S. Harlan Elementary School/Florala High School effective at the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, pending verification of new or existing background reviews
  • Kelsi Elizabeth Scruggs as career coach for Covington County Schools effective at the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, pending verification of new or existing background reviews
  • Susan Lee as pre-K auxiliary teacher at RLS effective at the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, pending verification of new or existing background reviews

The board set the next meeting date for June 27, noon, at the central office due to the Fourth of July holiday.
