The two classes of Red Level School’s First Class Pre-K program took a field trip to their local post office on Thursday, April 20.
The trip gave four-year-old students the opportunity to learn where their mail comes from, how to purchase stamps, and how to mail letters and packages.
Red Level has two Pre-K classrooms. The teachers for the first class are Samantha Gipson and Leola Poindexter. The teachers for the second class are Susan Lee and Courtney Williamson.
“Since the post office is very close to the school, our students walked there and were accompanied by a parent or guardian along with their teachers. The walk also gave parents participation hours, which are required for the Pre-K program. It has been a tradition for many years, and we look forward to taking our children to the post office every year. We would like to thank all the postal workers and Ms. Judy King for the years she has allowed us to visit. Thank you from all the RLS family and community,” Poindexter said.
The Red Level post office is located at 28906 Smiley Street. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
