Track athletes earn places in state championship meet

Covington County will be represented by 65 athletes from five different schools at the AHSAA 1A-3A State Championship Track and Field Meet at Cullman High School on Friday, May 5, and Saturday, May 6.
Admission is $12 per day with tickets available for purchase through the AHSAA’s ticketing partner, GoFan. Trophies will be awarded to the team winner and runner-up in each class. Medals will be awarded to the first three places from each event.
Field events will begin at 8 a.m. both days. Track events are scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
Florala High School
Led by head coach Jordan Cantrell, Florala’s 16 participants are as follows:
- Noah Anderson – 4×800 meter relay
- Kaden Cantrell – 4×100 meter relay (alt), 4×400 meter relay
- Rayshon Coleman – high jump, long jump, 4×100 meter relay, 4×400 meter relay
- Seth Cotton – 110 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles
- Judd Goolsby – 4×100 meter relay, 4×400 meter relay (alt)
- John Howell – 4×800 meter relay, 4×100 meter relay (alt), 4×400 meter relay (alt)
- Jayla Morrow – 300 meter hurdles
- Elijah McMeans – 110 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles, 4×100 meter relay, high jump
