Sybil Phelps went home to be with the Lord on March 14, 2023, at the age of 84. She was at her home surrounded by family.
She is survived by her husband, Claud E. Phelps Sr.; son, Claud E. (Jill) Phelps Jr.; daughter, Ava (Mark) Basso; five grandchildren, Kristi Basso, Emily (Travis) Bennett, Tana Grace Cashio, Tyler Phelps and Sam Phelps.
Sybil was one of twelve children born to the Bush family at Rome, Alabama. She is survived by her brothers, Billy (Ruth) Bush, Joe (Kay) Bush, and Wayne (Carmen) Bush; her sisters, Rose Hutchinson, Alice Toohill, and Vivian (Carl) Douglass; sister-in-law, Cathryn Bush; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Daniel Tyler Phelps; parents, Willis and Marie Bush; brothers, Charles Bush and Hiram Bush; sisters, Margaret Beasley, Louise Smith and Diane Little.
She was a strong Christian who loved the Lord and served Him in many ways from teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and welcoming the youth to her home for activities. She was very wise and very determined. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was always willing to help others and give of herself asking nothing in return.
She entered the gates of Heaven and was reunited with her grandson, Daniel Tyler Phelps, and other family members who have gone on before. She had many crowns laid up for her in Heaven because of her love for the Lord and her service to Him.
We sorrow but not as those with no hope. We know we will see her again in Heaven, and what a great reunion that will be.
